The Studio Loft is the creative day-use path at Fernwood: indoor natural light, private session time, and forty acres of outdoor backdrops without booking an overnight stay.

Open hardwood floor, vaulted ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling windows that face the forest. No furniture to move — nothing between you and the space from the moment you arrive. Gas fireplace, full kitchen, outdoor deck.
For boudoir, therapy, coaching, and sensitive creative work: the Studio Loft itself is private during your booking. Outdoor areas are beautiful but not guaranteed to be fully unseen, so we set clear boundaries before the session.

Yoga intensives, movement workshops, artist residencies, creative retreats for two. The open floor is 1,120 sq ft of unobstructed hardwood — nothing to move, nothing to reconfigure. Show up and use it.

Good to Know
- What are the rates and what's included?
- Sessions are $175 for 3 hours, $249 for a half day (about 5 hours), or $399 for a full day (8+ hours) — all CAD plus HST. The rate includes private use of the 1,120 sq ft Studio Loft, 40 acres of outdoor locations, 1 Gbps WiFi, parking, and self check-in.
- What direction do the windows face and what does the light look like?
- The main windows face north-northwest. This gives soft, diffused natural light throughout the entire day — no harsh sun cutting across the floor, no shadows shifting mid-shoot. It's the orientation photographers seek for consistent indoor light without gels or diffusion panels.
- What AV, WiFi, and power is available?
- The Studio Loft has 1 Gbps fibre WiFi — reliable enough for tethered shooting, live streaming, or cloud upload during your session. Standard 120V outlets are distributed throughout the space. For high-draw cinema rigs or professional strobe packs, message ahead and we'll confirm capacity.
- Can I bring a crew? What's the size limit?
- For day-use sessions, the Studio Loft is capped at 5 people on site. This covers a photographer plus a small crew (assistant, stylist, subject). Commercial productions with a larger crew should use the commercial booking track — same contact, just let us know scope and headcount upfront.
- Can I bring lighting equipment — LEDs, softboxes, strobes?
- Yes. Standard studio lighting — LED panels, softboxes, monolights — is welcome. The space handles typical professional setups without issue. For high-draw monolight packs or battery-powered generators, let us know in advance. Backdrop stands and grip hardware are welcome; we have no hard-point rigging in the ceiling.
- How do I book?
